Our Mission

To Protect The Quality of Life of Our Community

Friends of Penn Township was formed because of growing community concerns with the unlimited outdoor marijuana grow sites that our Penn Township trustees have brought into our community. The trustees were not compliant in adopting the Recreational Marihuana Establishment Ordinance in February 2021. Our five trustees of Penn Township unanimously adopted the ordinance without a proper public notice and public hearing, via a Zoom meeting, and without the opportunity for proper public comments from the community. Our Penn Township trustees should not have made such a momentous decision on behalf of our community without the input and vote of our residents. We are working for a transparent and accountable Penn Township government, with community interests addressed free from personal conflicts of interest.

Friends of Penn Township was formed to bring this issue to a vote so that the will of the residents, rather than the individual views of our five Penn Township trustees, would decide the issue. It is their fiduciary responsibility as elected officials to act in the best interests of our community.
